In a post on X, United States Central Command (Centcom) said media claims that ships such as M/V Hero II, M/V Hedy and M/V Dorena had evaded the blockade were “inaccurate”.
“US forces have directed 29 vessels to turn around or return to port as part of the US blockade against Iran,” the statement said.
Centcom said the Hero II and Hedy were intercepted earlier this week and are now anchored at Chah Bahar in Iran, dismissing claims they had ferried oil to market.
It added that the Dorena is currently under the escort of a US Navy destroyer in the Indian Ocean after attempting to breach the blockade.
“The US military has global reach. American forces are operating and enforcing the blockade across the Middle East and beyond,” it said. –Agencies
