IGP reviews Safe City expansion project, tech-based policing

ISLAMABAD: IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, chaired an important meeting at the Central Police Office (CPO) Islamabad. The meeting was attended by DG Safe City/DIG Traffic Muhammad Haroon Joya, DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq, SSP Investigations Muhammad Usman Tariq Butt, SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza, and other senior officers.
During the meeting, the IGP conducted a detailed review of the Safe City expansion project, the promotion of technology-based policing, and the development and improvement of modern mobile applications aimed at enhancing public services. He directed officers to expand the coverage of Safe City cameras, ensure the effective use of data analytics, and gradually introduce artificial intelligence-based systems for proactive crime prevention.
While reviewing the Operations Division’s performance, the IGP Islamabad directed that effective and indiscriminate action against criminal elements be further intensified. He emphasized improving the patrolling system, identifying crime hotspots, and enhancing patrol efficiency through digital monitoring.
He also directed that investigations be conducted with transparency, merit, and scientific methods. Emphasis was placed on activating the case management system and improving the professional training of investigation officers.
In a separate meeting with SSP Operations, SP Capital Patrols, and DSP Capital Patrols, the IGP Islamabad reviewed a comprehensive strategy to strengthen the Capital Patrolling Unit, reduce response time, and ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property. Matters related to uniform improvements, provision of modern equipment, and welfare measures for personnel were also discussed. He directed that Capital Patrol units be equipped with modern communication tools, body cameras, and GPS tracking to enhance performance.
Additionally, in a meeting with SSP CTD Saud Khan and Director ITP FM 92.4 Ayesha Jameel, the IGP Islamabad issued clear directions to enhance the professional capacity of the Counter Terrorism Department, strengthen intelligence sharing, and improve crime prevention and counter-terrorism measures through technology, training, and inter-agency coordination.
While reviewing the performance of ITP FM 92.4, he directed the expansion of awareness seminars in educational institutions, road safety campaigns, and community policing initiatives. He also emphasized using media platforms effectively to raise public awareness and encourage youth to become law-abiding and responsible citizens.
In conclusion, the IGP Islamabad reaffirmed that Islamabad Police will continue efforts to facilitate citizens, ensure their safety, and promote modern policing. He directed officers to prioritize professional integrity, prompt response, and a public-friendly approach, while strengthening monitoring and accountability systems.
