FIA nabs 13 POs in anti-trafficking crackdown

ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad Zone has arrested 13 proclaimed offenders (POs) during a week-long crackdown against human trafficking networks, including eight from Rawalpindi and five from Islamabad, tightening the noose around traffickers exploiting citizens.
The operations were conducted under the supervision of Director FIA Islamabad Zone by the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle. He said that several dangerous accused were among those arrested who had been involved in defrauding innocent and poor citizens of millions of rupees on the pretext of sending them abroad.
The official said that the crackdown reflected FIA’s continued efforts to dismantle organized human trafficking networks, adding that the FIA had also accelerated efforts through INTERPOL for the arrest of proclaimed offenders residing abroad, who would soon be brought back to face the lawThe official said that FIA remained committed to eliminating human trafficking and would continue indiscriminate operations against all those involved in the heinous crime. He said that strict legal action would be ensured against human smugglers to protect citizens from exploitation and financial loss.
