ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration Islamabad offloaded a woman passenger traveling to Oman after detecting suspicious travel and marriage documents during immigration clearance at Islamabad International Airport.
An official told media on Monday that passenger Shabana Bibi claimed that she was traveling to Oman to join her husband and presented a Relative Joining Visa before immigration authorities.
During scrutiny, the official said the marriage registration certificate produced by the passenger was found suspicious, while further examination of her mobile phone led to recovery of another marriage certificate, exposing serious contradictions regarding her marital status.
According to preliminary investigations, the visa and supporting documents were allegedly obtained through fraudulent means.
The official said the passenger was offloaded and shifted to FIA Anti Human Trafficking Circle (AHTC) Islamabad for further legal proceedings.
Mobile phone, passport, visa documents and other relevant evidence were also taken into custody, while further investigation into the matter was underway.
