ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Post on Tuesday unveiled a commemorative postage stamp and presented the world’s longest commemorative stamp artwork based on the timeless artistic creations of legendary Pakistani artist Sadequain to mark his 96th birth anniversary at a ceremony held at the Sadequain Gallery of the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).
The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, artists, scholars, diplomats and cultural personalities. Gallery 21 Islamabad, which has been working in collaboration with Sadequain Foundation USA to preserve and promote Sadequain’s legacy, also participated in the event.
Founder of Gallery 21 Islamabad, Dr. Farrukh Seir received the special commemorative stamp from Director General Pakistan Post Sqn. Ldr. (R) Maqsood Ahmed during the ceremony, a presentation that reflected a shared commitment to preserving and celebrating Pakistan’s rich artistic heritage.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Farrukh Seir expressed his sincere appreciation to Pakistan Post for the remarkable initiative, saying it had rendered a great service by keeping alive the memory of Pakistan’s national legends, particularly Sadequain, through such commemorative efforts.
He also extended heartfelt thanks to Dr. Salman Ahmad, Director of Sadequain Foundation USA, for his tireless efforts, dedication and commitment to preserving and promoting Sadequain’s legacy for future generations.
The event highlighted Sadequain’s enduring contribution to art through his visionary paintings, monumental murals, revolutionary calligraphy and poetry, which continue to inspire generations across the world. Participants observed that Sadequain’s extraordinary legacy remains a source of national pride and reaffirms Pakistan’s invaluable contribution to global art and culture.
Gallery 21 Islamabad also expressed gratitude to Pakistan Post, PNCA and Sadequain Foundation USA for organizing and supporting the meaningful tribute to one of Pakistan’s greatest artistic icons, describing it as an honour to witness and be part of the historic celebration of Sadequain’s enduring legacy. –Agencies
