Cops ensure security at Chehlum procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS)

ISLAMABAD: The central Chehlum procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) concluded peacefully in the federal capital under comprehensive security arrangements. Following the special directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, Islamabad Police implemented a comprehensive security plan and deployed more than 3,000 police officers and officials to ensure the safety of mourners. Pakistan Rangers and other law enforcement agencies also assisted in maintaining security throughout the event.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi personally visited the procession route to review the security arrangements and continuously monitored the overall situation from the Safe City Islamabad Command and Control Centre.


Director General (DG) Safe City Muhammad Haroon Joya, DIG Headquarters Muhammad Jawad Tariq, DIG Law and Order Muhammad Ateeq Tahir, DIG Security Rana Umar Farooq, all SSPs, Zonal SPs, CTO Islamabad, and other senior police officers accompanied him during the visit.
Islamabad Police established a robust security cordon along the procession route and at all sensitive locations. Strict checking at entry and exit points, walk-through gates, comprehensive screening of participants, Safe City surveillance cameras, drone monitoring, bomb disposal sweeps, rooftop deployment of armed officials, and armoured vehicles were utilized to further strengthen security. Special arrangements were also made for route lighting, traffic management, and emergency response. Officers and officials from the Operations Division, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Special Branch, Logistics Division, SWAT, Lady Police, and Islamabad Traffic Police performed their duties in close coordination throughout the event.
IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi commended all officers and officials deployed on security duty for their professionalism, vigilance, and dedication. He directed that all officers remain at their assigned duty points until the complete conclusion of the procession and continue to maintain the highest level of alertness.
He stated that protecting the lives and property of citizens, ensuring the peaceful conduct of religious gatherings, and maintaining law and order remain the foremost priorities of Islamabad Police. He reaffirmed that Islamabad Police will continue to fulfill its responsibilities with professionalism, advanced technology, effective planning, and close coordination with all law enforcement agencies to provide a safe and secure environment for citizens on every national and religious occasion.
