DPM assures govt’s commitment supporting provinces in ensuring stable prices, adequate wheat, essential commodities’ supply

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (DPM/FM), Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday assured that the government remains committed to supporting the provinces in ensuring stable prices and an adequate supply of essential commodities, including wheat.
The deputy prime minister chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee on the import of wheat and directed the relevant officials that the entire process be undertaken with full transparency and in close coordination with all provinces.
The DPM/FM took stock of the requirements for wheat imports, which have been communicated by all provinces and the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) was tasked with initiating the necessary preparations for the import of one million metric tons of wheat.
The meeting was attended by the Ministers for National Food Security & Research (MNFSR) and Economic Affairs, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Coordinator to the PM on Food Security, Secretaries of MNFSR and Commerce, and representatives of the governments of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. –Agencies
