BEIJING: The second World Humanoid Robot Games (WHRG) continued in full swing at the National Speed Skating Oval in Beijing on Tuesday. From sprinting and table tennis to the standing high jump, Chinese-made robots are setting one record after another, drawing global attention.
Speaking at a regular press conference on Tuesday, Lin Jian, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that China’s pursuit of new quality productive forces and technological innovation is about open cooperation and mutual benefit, not about setting up restrictions or seeking exclusive control.
The remarks came in response to a media inquiry on the success of the 2026 World Robot Conference (WRC) that was recently held in Beijing, followed by the second WHRG held at the National Speed Skating Oval, known as the “Ice Ribbon.” Chinese humanoid robots broke multiple human records, including the 100-meter sprint and the men’s high jump, which sparked heated discussion worldwide.
Beyond eye-catching performances and record-breaking feats, China’s humanoid robots are accelerating from laboratories to industrial applications, backed by strengths in complete industrial chains, technological innovation, manufacturing and diverse application scenarios, as well as an open approach to cooperation, a Chinese expert said.
On the field, each competition is not only a test of robotic capabilities but also a reflection of breakthroughs in cutting edge technology of Chinese robots. On Tuesday, at the ongoing WHRG in Beijing, Team Tiangong was the only team to complete the 4×100 meter relay and advance to the final.
