Fazl ‘conveys’ govt offer to PTI

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has conveyed the government’s offer to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), prompting the party to call an emergency meeting, sources said.
The emergency meeting is being held via video link, with all PTI leaders participating, according to sources.
Fazl contacted the PTI after meeting a government delegation on Thursday. The government had asked him to play a role in resolving the situation through dialogue and understanding instead of imposing governor’s rule or an emergency.
On the other hand, JUI-F Senator Maulana Attaul Haq Darvesh has said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman was not part of the talks between the government and PTI.
Darvesh said the provincial government would be equally responsible if governor’s rule or an emergency was imposed in KP, urging Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to fulfil his constitutional and administrative responsibilities. Responding to a question, the JUI-F leader said that PTI leaders had discussed their planned long march with Fazlur Rehman.
