‘Field Marshal, hope of Muslim Ummah’

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: Acting Rector and President of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed on Friday lauded Field Marshal and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Syed Asim Munir as a beacon of hope for the entire Muslim Ummah, terming the armed forces of Pakistan a formidable pillar of strength for the Muslim world.
He made these remarks while delivering the Friday sermon at the iconic Faisal Mosque, adding that this mosque, a magnificent gift from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan, stands as an enduring emblem of the deep-rooted fraternal ties and shared spiritual heritage between the two brotherly nations.
He stated that the International Islamic University Islamabad, as custodian of this grand monument, upholds the visionary spirit of the leadership of both countries and remains committed to advancing the noble aims and objectives of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), he added.
He prayed for the strength and success of Pakistan’s armed forces in every field saying that the armed forces of Pakistan, under the leadership of the Field Martial, are the strength of Muslim Ummah.
He said Muslim Ummah has never faced a fiercer enemy than now and their unity, after Allah’s help, is their real strength.
In his sermon, he said the Muslim Ummah is facing deep divisions and its enemies have taken advantage of this weakness, adding that Muslims need unity now more than ever and no outside power can help them unless they strengthen themselves with faith and a shared purpose.
The Acting Rector said other nations take pride in their geography, birth, race or tribe; whereas, Islam unites its followers through Kalima. The Kalima links a believer to his Creator, to the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and to his brothers in faith, he said, making a passionate appeal for unity. He said none can be a truly believe until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself. He called upon the Muslims to hold firmly onto the rope of Allah, and shun disputes.
He quoted Hazrat Abdullah ibn Masud (RA) as saying, “Hold fast to the Jamaah, for it is the rope of Allah. What you dislike in unity is better than what you like in division.”
