ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has set December 31, 2026, as the deadline for members of Parliament, Senate and provincial assemblies to submit their annual statements of assets and liabilities, including those of their spouses and dependent children, for the financial year 2025-26, in compliance with Section 137 of the Elections Act, 2017.
Under the law, all parliamentarians and provincial lawmakers are required to submit their statements on the prescribed Form-B, declaring their assets and liabilities as of June 30, 2026.
In a press release issued on Friday, the ECP reminded members of the legislatures that submission of the statements within the stipulated timeframe was mandatory.
The Commission will publish on January 1, 2027, the names of members who fail to submit their statements by the December 31 deadline.
Under Section 137, members who fail to file their statements by January 15 will face suspension of their membership through an ECP order issued on January 16.
Such members will remain unable to perform their legislative functions until they submit the required statements.
The law further provides that a member submitting a statement found to contain materially false information may face proceedings for committing corrupt practice within 120 days of its submission.
The prescribed Form-B, along with relevant instructions and guidelines, is available free of cost at the ECP Secretariat in Islamabad, offices of provincial election commissioners, Senate Secretariat, National Assembly Secretariat and the secretariats of the respective provincial assemblies.
The form can also be downloaded from the ECP’s official website, www.ecp.gov.pk.
