LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at the family residence in Jati Umrah.
According to the close circles of the former prime minister, the meeting was during a routine family visit of Shehbaz to meet his mother.
The meeting was largely seen in the backdrop of the recent political situation unfolding in the country and in context of the recent one on one meeting between the former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar and Shehbaz. However, the party sources have denied information of any discussion between the two leaders.
The official have further revealed that Nawaz would be holding three political gatherings around the country in the coming ten days. They said that the most recent was in Mansehra, and added that the seminar on the topic “respect the sanctity of vote” which was to be held in Islamabad on April 10 has been delayed to April 17. The sources said that the earlier date of the seminar was overlapping with another engagement of Nawaz due to which it had to be rescheduled.
“Public service is the biggest priority of the government and PMLN has always given preference to the implementation of the agenda…our immaculate performance in the province where revolutionary steps have been taken for the development of health, education, agriculture and infrastructural development,” Shehbaz said earlier in the day while talking to different MNAs and MPAs belonging to various districts of Punjab.
The Punjab CM said that the timely completion of development schemes was meant for less-developed areas that had been ensured to implement the policy of ensuring composite progress of the province, which is why Punjab has emerged as an exemplary province with regard to development.
He added that the government has dedicatedly served the masses and added that a lot of improvement has been ensured in health, education and other social sectors. “PML-N government stands victorious in the public court after five years and we shall proudly go to the people in the next elections,” said Shehbaz.
He lamented that the country’s precious time has been wasted by liars and those who took U-turns. These elements will reap what they have sown, he added. The politics of baseless allegations is poisonous for the nation, which loses its purpose because of the blame game. He added that those who speak lies should acknowledge the facts.
The CM said that provision of quality healthcare services to the people has been ensured and added that the latest medical machinery and important equipment have been installed in the hospitals for the provision of latest healthcare facilities to the masses. He added that there is special attention being paid to the provision of latest transport facilities to the commuters.
Shehbaz Sharif said, “A lot of passengers are benefiting from metro bus service in Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi-Islamabad. I am fully committed to serving the people and shall not leave the mission of public service…If God accords an opportunity, the journey of public welfare and prosperity will move forward with renewed zeal after achieving complete success in elections 2018.”
