QUETTA: President Dr. Arif Alvi on Monday said that Pakistan, the world’s sixth-most populous state, was full of breathtaking tourism sites and emerging as naturally rich country.
Addressing Balochistan Livestock Expo 2019 in Quetta on Monday, President Alvi said that Pakistan was at the doorstep of a new era in respect of economic development and progress.
He said the world was considering Pakistan as a lucrative place to do business and added that there was huge potential of investment in the country in various fields.
The president noted, “Balochistan is quite rich in resources, including mining, coast, fishing and livestock.”
Speaking on the occasion, he said livestock was a comprehensive field that contributes to nutrition, poverty alleviation, rural development and overall economic growth.
Earlier on July 15, Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Ali Zaidi had said Pakistan’s coastal belt was enriched with natural resources, new Shipping Policy will bring improvement.
Chairing the first meeting of the committee on the blue economy, constituted on the directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the minister had said world’s blue economy stood around $23 trillion. The meeting had discussed the recommendations to take maximum benefits from the blue economy.
Agencies add: President Dr. Arif Alvi on Monday lauded the initiatives of Balochistan government for formulation of new policy for livestock development in the province.
Dr Arif Alvi formally announced Balochistan Livestock Policy 2020-30 and said more than 70 percent of province’s livelihood was linked with livestock sector.
He made the announcement while addressing the inaugural ceremony of Livestock Expo which was organized for promotion of Livestock Sector of province at Auditorium of University of Balochistan.
He expressed the optimism that new policy would help improve the economic conditions of people in Balochistan.
The President said investments would also boost in livestock sector due to the Expo.
Governor Balochistan Amanullah Khan Yasinzai, Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan, Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Waseem Ashraf, Adviser to Livestock Mitha Khan Kakar, Chief Secretary Balochistan Captain (Retired) Fazeel Asghar and other officials were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Defence Production Zubaida Jalal on Sunday said that Pakistan made at least Rs31 billion from the export of defence-oriented products this financial year.
The minister was talking on the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow 2019 that kicked off on Sunday.
The airshow was opened by vice-president and prime minister of UAE and ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Close to 1,288 exhibitors and more than 87,000 trade visitors are expected to visit the airshow over the next five days. More than 160 countries, including Pakistan, are participating at the mega event.
Pakistan’s Super Mushshak training aircraft is also on display at the airshow, but JF-17 Thunder is not present in this year’s airshow.
Many aviation enthusiasts, especially Pakistanis and Chinese, were a little dejected when they did not find the jet.
The aircraft had been a regular at Dubai airshows for the past ten years. Not only in Dubai, but JF-17 Thunder had successfully been participating in various reputed air shows all over the world too.
