Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to allow its centrally contracted players to play only three international cricket leagues, excluding the Pakistan Super League (PSL), in a year after approval from the Board of Governors (BoG).
The decision was approved in the 57th BoG meeting in Peshawar on Tuesday. According to the details, all the players must have to acquire a Non-Objective Certificate (NOC) from the board and the last decision will be of PCB’s CEO.
Players will get NOC as long they don’t have any national assignment. PCB will also make sure to manage players’ workload and fitness regimes.
BoG meeting was chaired by PCB chairman Ehsan Mani and CEO Wasim Khan.
The meeting discussed several issues related to financial budgets, the revival of international cricket in Pakistan and others.
The members of BoG praised PCB’s efforts in bringing back the high-profile cricket to Pakistan. Khan and Mani briefed the meeting about the financial benefits they are getting by conducting international cricket in Pakistan.
The BoG approved budget of PKR1.4million for the staging of four Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) matches, to be played next week in Lahore. The MCC, on their first tour in 48 years, will play Pakistan Shaheens, Northern, Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans from 13-19 February.
Furthermore, the BoG approved the Model Constitution for City Cricket Associations, which is in harmony with the PCB Constitution 2019 and Model Constitution for Cricket Associations.
Pakistan team head coach-cum-chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq was also present in the meeting and he briefed the BoG members about his and team’s performance since he has taken charge. He talked at length on players’ fitness, domestic cricket, event schedules, team preparation, selection criteria, future plans and the positives of his dual responsibilities.
