Ex-ISPR Chief escapes unhurt in M-2 accident

ISLAMABAD: Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor (Designate GOC 40 Div) accompanied his wife, while traveling from Rawalpindi to Lahore on M-2 Motorway, escaped unhurt near Sargodha Mor as a cow suddenly appeared in middle lane and the Land Cruiser Ex 40 Div bumped into the cow.
Driver handled the vehicle after having struck the cow and parked the vehicle on roadside. Both GenAsifGhafoor and his wife remained safe as speed of the vehicle was under 100 km. While the vehicle was parked the follow up car plying in fast lane also struck the cow, got toppled and subsequently struck the 40 Division vehicle parked on roadside from the back. There were three passengers in the car, whom Gen Asifand staff immediately rescued with injuries.
While this rescue was in progress, 2-3 other follow up vehicles also crashed into the struck vehicles thus damaged and cars. Gen called DG FWO and apprised about the accident. Once police reached, Gen and his wife left for Lahore in double cabin.
CO 19 EB and a Field Officer reached the accident site. 3 vehicleswere removed from main carriageway. Two injured person were evacuated toKotMomin Hospital. Passengers having minor injuries were given first aid on site.40 Divvehiclewas towed by flatbed vehicle.–Agencies
