Pallekele: West Indies ODI and T20 captain, Kieron Pollard became the second player to score 10,000 runs in T20 cricket and also the only cricketer to play 500 matches in this format too.
Pollard joined the 10,000 runs club after smashing 15-ball 34 against Sri Lanka in Kandy during their 25-run win over Sri Lanka in the first T20I of the series.
Explosive left-handed opener and his countrymen Chris Gayle is the only batsman in this club scoring 13,296 runs in 404 matches.
The 32-year-old has been playing franchise cricket all over the world since making his T20 debut in 2006. Gayle also congratulated him after reaching the milestone. West Indies scored 196-4 in their 20 overs while Sri Lanka were bowled out for 171, with fast bowler Oshane Thomas picking up five wickets to give the Windies a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
