Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has charged middle-order batsman Umar Akmal after violating two breaches of Article 2.4.4 of the PCB Anti-Corruption-code in two unlinked incidents.
According to details, The 29-year-old is charged after not telling full details of approaches received by an individual to involve in corrupt conduct to the PCB security department.
On March 17th, Umar was issued the notice of charge and has 14 days (March 31st) to respond in writing the charge.
According to Article 6.2, Umar if found guilty of violating Article 2.4.4 will be banned for a minimum of six months and a maximum of a lifetime. The PCB has decided not to make any comments until the outcome of the case.
It must be noted that Umar was suspended on February 20 after he was found involved in suspicious activities.
“Failing to disclose to the PCB Vigilance and Security Department (without unnecessary delay) full details of any approaches or invitations received by the Participant to engage in Corrupt Conduct under this Anti-Corruption Code”.
