TASHKENT: In the mountain recreation areas, on the territories of reservoirs, and along the banks of rivers and lakes in Surkhandarya region, ecotourism infrastructure projects are being implemented that do not have a negative impact on the environment. Special attention is being paid to the effective use of the region’s rich tourism potential.
Thus, 15.7 hectares of land have been allocated for the construction of a modern ecotourism complex on the territory of the Southern Surkhan Reservoir in Qumkurgan district. The project, valued at 140 billion UZS, provides for the preservation of the natural environment of the area, the creation of new green zones, roads, and infrastructure that meet environmental requirements, as well as the introduction of a wastewater treatment system.
This ecotourism complex will include cottages, swimming pools, a parking area, shops, food service outlets, and other facilities. Sports and children’s playgrounds, pedestrian walkways, and fishing activities will also be established. The surrounding area will be fully landscaped. All the necessary amenities will be created to provide meaningful recreation for both local and foreign tourists.
The regional Hokim, Ulugbek Qosimov, visited the reservoir area and reviewed the project presentation. He gave relevant instructions on starting construction and landscaping, as well as on the phased implementation of the planned work within the established timeframe.
According to the information, the Southern Surkhan Reservoir, commissioned 58 years ago, is located at an altitude of 408 meters above sea level. The water surface area covers 65 square kilometers, with a total capacity of 800 million cubic meters.
