ISLAMABAD: A total of 172,810 patients have so far recovered from coronavirus across the country, bringing down the number of total active Covid-19 cases in the country to 77,573.
According to the latest statistics issued by the National Command and Operation Centre on Wednesday, 2,165 new coronavirus cases were reported in the country during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 255,768. A total of 67 more patients died of the virus during the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 5,386. The total reported cases include 107,773 in Sindh, 88,045 in Punjab, 31,001 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11,239 in Balochistan, 14,315 in Islamabad, 1,708 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 1,688 in Azad Kashmir.
Around 21,749 corona tests were carried out during the aforementioned period including 9,972 in Sindh, 7,175 in Punjab, 1,575 in KP, 2,333 in ICT, 305 in Balochistan, 69 in GB and 320 in AJK. There is no patient on ventilator in AJK & Balochistan.
According to NCOC, 339 ventilators are occupied across Pakistan out of 1,825 ventilators allocated for Covid-19 patients.
Meanwhile, 553 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) were detected in Punjab in the last 24 hours, taking the provincial tally to 88,045. According to the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, 17 more people died due to complications related to the virus, taking the death toll in the province to 2,043. Thus far, 64,148 patients have been cured of the disease in the province. A total of 611,506 tests have been conducted in the province thus far.
According to district-wise details of the fresh cases, Lahore reported 276 cases, Kasur three, Shiekhupura seven, Rawalpindi 55, Jhelum one, Chakwal one, Gujranwala 11, Sialkot one, Gujrat seven, Mandibahuddin six, Multan 17, Vehari three, and Faisalabad 33. On July 14, the provincial government extended smart lockdowns for another 15 days.
According to a notification issued by the Punjab government, all public and private educational institutes, parks, cinemas, restaurants and marriage halls will remain closed by July 30 across the province.
Sports activities, political, social and religious gatherings will also be banned in the province till the end of this month. Also, at least six more people have died from the novel coronavirus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday, bringing the COVID-19 death toll in the province to 1,120.
According to the statics released by the provincial health department, a total of 216 new cases of coronavirus were reported during the past 24 hours, making the total count of the infected people in the province 31,217.
The report said that as many as 22,260 active patients of the virus have recovered from the ailment so far including 653 new during the past 24 hours. Earlier on July 10, at least 11 more people had died from the novel coronavirus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday, bringing the COVID-19 death toll in the province to 1,074.
According to the statics released by the provincial health department, 369 new cases of COVID-19 had been reported during the past 24 hours, making the total count of the infected people in the province 29,775.
However, 20,271 active patients of the virus had recovered from the ailment.
Moreover, A renowned orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Younis Soomro, succumbed to coronavirus on Wednesday. He had contracted the virus while serving patients and died while receiving treatment at a private hospital. According to the Pakistan Medical Association general secretary, Dr Soomro was working at Ziauddin Hospital’s orthopaedic department and also remained affiliated with several national and international symposiums as well as Dow University of Medical Sciences.
