ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal on Thursday visited the Ministry of Railways and held a meeting with Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi.
During the meeting, Hanif Abbasi gave a detailed briefing to Ahsan Iqbal on the ongoing reform and development initiatives in Pakistan Railways, said a press release.
Hanif Abbasi apprised the minister of progress made in key areas including digitisation, security enhancement, improvement of passenger facilities and advancement of the ML-1 project.
Ahsan Iqbal appreciated the reforms, modern initiatives and improved performance of Pakistan Railways under the current leadership.
He also thanked Muhammad Hanif Abbasi for the upgradation of the Lahore–Narowal train service, terming it an important step towards improving regional connectivity and passenger comfort.
Ahsan Iqbal further requested additional uplift and beautification of Narowal Railway Station to enhance facilities for passengers.
In response, Hanif Abbasi assured him that measures would be taken to improve the station and undertake further development projects.
Both the ministers reaffirmed their commitment to modernising the railway system and making it more efficient and people-friendly in line with the Prime Minister’s vision.
