AIOU hosts international Seerah seminar

ISLAMABAD: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) held an International Seerah Seminar the other day as part of the centennial celebrations of Khutbat-e-Madras.
Eminent scholars, researchers and intellectuals participated in the academic gathering and discussed various dimensions of the Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The seminar was organized by the Department of Seerah Studies (Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies) in collaboration with Darul Ma’arif Lahore.
The speakers included Professor Dr Muhammad Tufail Hashmi, Professor Dr Ikram-ul-Haq Yaseen, Professor Dr Muhammad Yusuf Farooqi, Prof. Dr Syed Aziz-ur-Rehman, Prof. Dr Shah Muhyuddin Hashmi, Dr Moeen-ud-Din Hashmi, Dr Hafiz Muhammad Sajjad, and Mufti Muhammad Zahid.
Addressing the seminar, the speakers paid special tribute to the remarkable contributions of Syed Sulaiman Nadvi in the field of Seerah studies. They stated that through his renowned work Khutbat-e-Madras, Syed Sulaiman Nadvi presented the life of the Prophet (PBUH) in a comprehensive, well-argued and contemporary framework, which continues to serve as an important source of scholarly and intellectual guidance.
The speakers observed that Khutbat-e-Madras is not merely a book but a complete intellectual methodology for understanding the Seerah, wherein history, reason, revelation and moral values are harmoniously integrated.
They emphasized that solutions to modern-day social, moral, and intellectual challenges can only be found in the light of the Seerah of the Prophet (PBUH), and that the services of Syed Sulaiman Nadvi stand as a milestone in this regard. –Agencies
