ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi on Friday approved the reconstitution of the Council of Common Interests (CCI).
The president gave the approval under Article 153 of the Constitution. Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar will be the chairman of the council.
All four Chief Ministers of the provinces and three federal ministers will be the members of the coun-cil. Caretaker federal ministers for Finance, Privatization and Law will be among the council’s members, the notification stated.
Earlier, President Dr Arif Alvi yesterday expressed his grief over the death of the mother of renowned lawyer Salman Akram Raja. He wrote on the social media platform ‘X’: “The death of parents is a painful moment for the children”, praying for peace of the departed soul.
The president conveyed his condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family, and prayed for pa-tience and strength to them to bear the loss.
Earlier, President Dr. Arif Alvi has reaffirmed the commitment to advancing the rights of individuals with disa-bilities, emphasizing the importance of investing in Braille education, enhancing its inclusion, and ex-panding access to its materials. He considers these steps crucial in building an inclusive and equitable society. In a message commemorating World Braille Day on January 4, President Alvi stated, “Uniting for uni-versal accessibility isn’t a privilege but a reflection of our collective resolve. I am confident that by working together, we can create a world where barriers are eliminated, and opportunities are made accessible for everyone.”
