Whangarei: A three-fer each from Ammad Butt and Naseem Shah led Pakistan Shaheens to an 89-run win over New Zealand A on the fourth and final day of the first-class match at Cobham Oval on Sunday.
Chasing 298 to win, New Zealand A were bowled out for 208 in 64 overs to hand Shaheens victory in their only four-day match on the tour. For New Zealand A, Nathan Smith top-scored with 45 off 108 balls, hitting four fours and a six. Joe Carter and Michael Bracewell contributed 30 runs each. For Shaheens, both right arm pacers Ammad and Naseem took three wickets apiece for 38 and 44 runs, respectively. Yasir Shah with his leg-spin bowling took two for 55 in 17 overs. Mohammad Abbas who took four wickets in the first innings ended up taking one for 34 in the second innings while his fellow fast bowler Sohail Khan took one wicket for 27. Earlier in the day, resuming their second innings on an overnight score of 318 for nine, Shaheens were dismissed for 329 in 96.3 overs. For the home team, Matt Henry was the most successful bowler taking six for 53 in 25.3 overs.
