ISLAMABAD: Following the special directives of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, Islamabad Police has been conducting a vigorous crackdown against criminal elements in the federal capital.
In this regard, the Anti-Robbery and Dacoity Unit (ADRU) police team conducted a major operation and arrested three members of an organized motorcycle robbery gang, including the leader, who were involved in armed street robberies.
Seven stolen motorcycles, valuable mobile phones, and weapons along with ammunition used in the crimes have been recovered from the arrested gang. The gang used to snatch motorcycles and mobile phones from citizens at gunpoint. Stolen property has also been recovered from the suspects in more than 10 cases registered at Police Station Humak and Police Station Industrial Area.
The gang leader, Ali Asghar, is a citizen of Afghanistan, while the other members include Haider Ali and Hussain. DIG Islamabad, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, stated that Islamabad Police is taking large-scale action against organized and active gangs. The protection of citizens’ lives and property is the top priority of Islamabad Police.
