ISLAMABAD: The Academic Staff Association of COMSATS University Islamabad (ASA-CUI) concluded a highly productive dialogue process with the Rector’s office.
This dialogue, marked by cooperation and mutual understanding, tackled a range of crucial issues that affected university employees. These pivotal decisions, which emerged from constructive dialogues and negotiations, were subsequently presented during the Syndicate meeting convened this Monday. Negotiation team of ASA led by Prof. Dr. Siraj-ul-Islam, Masood Azhar, Dr. Farooq Buzdar and Dr. Adnan Fida.
The Syndicate approved 25% dearness allowance on running basic. The dearness allowance will be disbursed soon after the approval of the Senate of CUI. Time Scale Promotion will be granted to leftover cases from July 1, 2023, to all employees who have qualified for all five increments (Average) in their last five appraisals. The outcomes of annual employee appraisals will be provided by respective campus HR departments via email.
A committee, comprising all stakeholders, will be constituted to facilitate the implementation of the Basic Pay Scale (BPS). The criteria for the promotion of Tenured Faculty have been referred back to the committee for review. The Code of Conduct notification has been withdrawn and the Efficiency and Discipline (E&D) Rules will be revised comprehensively.
The process of restoring the Contributory Provident Fund (CP Fund) for Tenure Track System (TTS) faculty will be initiated through statutory bodies.
ASA-CUI sincerely acknowledges the significant contributions that have led to these accomplishments. The association remains optimistic about effectively addressing the remaining issues in close cooperation with the university administration. ASA-CUI would also like to extend its gratitude to the Rector’s Office team members, Registrar and the campus directors/Incharge for their invaluable efforts in securing Syndicate approval. Additionally, the commitment and diligence of the elected members of the Syndicate in this process are duly acknowledged.
