Asia-Pacific Media Forum kicks-off in Shenzhen

BEIJING: The2026 edition of the Asia-Pacific Media Forum was kicked off on here today, Saturday in Shenzhen, south China’s Guangdong Province, as the country hosts a series of events under the 2026 APEC “China Year.”
The high profile event was attended by over 400 delegates representing more than 40 countries and regions, along with UN agencies and other international organizations. On the sidelines of the forum, 16 media organizations from China and abroad launched a preparatory committee for the Asia Pacific Media Partnership Program.
Ahead of the event, participating guests visited cities in Guangdong, including Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Zhongshan.
During the 2026 APEC “China Year,” approximately 300 events are scheduled to take place across multiple cities in China. Notably, the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting will be held in Shenzhen in November. It will be China’s third time hosting the event, following Shanghai in 2001 and Beijing in 2014.
Main Theme of this year’s Forum is “Building a Path to Shared Prosperity for the Asia-Pacific Community: Media Consensus and Action” it is being attended by over 400 representatives and media professionals from more than 40 countries and regions. This event is being held as a major event under the 2026 APEC “China Year,” preceding the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting scheduled in Shenzhen for November.
Li Shulei, head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended and delivered a keynote speech alongside Guangdong Provincial Party Secretary Huang Kunming.
While the initiatives including the “Gather in Shenzhen, Create a Better Asia-Pacific” cooperation program focusing on technology sharing, content co-creation, and talent development were also launched.
