Karachi: Hard-hitting middle-order batsman Asif Ali has decided not to play the upcoming inaugural Lanka Premier League (LPL) due to personal reasons.
According to sources, the 29-year-old has informed his decision to the management of Jaffna Stallions.
Meanwhile, Ali is in Karachi and is representing Northern in the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2020-21. He has scored 180 runs in eight innings.
Apart from Asif Ali, Jaffna Stallions has the services of veteran Pakistani batsman Shoaib Malik and pacer Usman Shinwari, who have joined the side in Hambantota.
Earlier, wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal also opted to skip the tournament due to a shoulder injury. LPL is scheduled to start on November 26. – Agencies
