Attempts to sabotage CPEC are doomed to fail: China

BEIJING: China on Friday lauded the contributions made by Pakistan for countering terrorism besides also vowing to foil any attempts to sabotage a multi-billion project between the two countries-China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
A spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Lijian Zhao took to Twitter to express support for Pakistan saying that China appreciates the positive contribution made by the country to the international counter-terrorism cause.
The spokesman said that the country firmly supports Pakistan in cracking down on terrorist forces. He further rejected conspiracies against the CPEC and said that “attempts that aim to sabotage CPEC are doomed to fail”.
Responding to the statement from China, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that India was trying to sabotage the CPEC but they would protect it and make it a success.
Speaking to a private TV, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that China is completely aware of the Indian conspiracies which are doomed to fail.
“Entire region will benefit from the CPEC,” he said, adding that Pakistan would not sit silently on the Indian conspiracies and would raise the matter at international platforms.
Mid November, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said India was hatching conspiracies to sabotage China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as it (India) desired economic instability in Pakistan.
While holding press conference at residence of PTI leader Qurban Fatima here, Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi stated, “we have to foil nefarious designs of India by maintaining unity in our ranks”.
He, however, added that the whole nation was united against enemies’ evil intentions. The enemy is planning to create law and order insecurity in our country, stated Qureshi.
Foreign Minister said India established terrorists training camps. It was spending Rs 80 billion to damage CPEC, he added.
Earlier Thursday, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan called on Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser at Parliament House and discussed China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.
Defence Minister Pervez Khattak and Energy Minister Omar Ayub were also present in the meeting.
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa briefed about the details of ongoing development projects in the province under CPEC.
Chief Minister appreciated Speaker NA Asad Qaiser for his efforts in promotion of trade with Afghanistan.
Praising the public welfare projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Speaker Asad Qaiser said that the performance of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was commendable.
He said that Pakistan was being considered a hub of economic activities due to its geographical importance and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be the hub of these economic activities.
He said that access to Central Asian countries through Afghanistan under the Economic Corridor would open new avenues for development and prosperity in the entire region.
The Speaker said that completion of Rashkai Economic Zone project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under CPEC would prove to be a game changer project for the whole country specially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said that early completion of this project of CPEC would provide ample job opportunities to the people. He said that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa wanted the Rashkai economic zone project to be completed soon.
He said that provision of energy and other facilities for industries should also be ensured so that industrial activities could start in full swing.
