AVLC arrests 9, recovers fifteen stolen vehicles

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Anti-Vehicle lifting Cell (AVLC) has arrested nine car lifters and recovered 15 stolen vehicles worth millions of rupees. It was stated by the SP (Investigation) Liaqat Hayat Khan Niazi during a press conference at AVLC office. ASP Hina Naik Bakht, Incharge AVLC Malik Liaqat Ali were also present on the occasion. SP Investigation told that, according to the orders of the IGP Islamabad Qazi Jamil-Ur-Rehman and DIG Operations Afzaal Ahmad Kausar, a massive crackdown against car and bike-lifters was conducted. During the crackdown, nine car-lifters were arrested. 15 stolen vehicles and 04 bikes were also recovered from their possession, he added.
The arrested car-lifters are identified as Najeeb Ullah s/o Habib Ullah, a resident of Peshawar, Yasin Khan s/o Hussain, a resident of Noshehra, Muhammad Kashif s/o Akhtar Hussain, a resident of Khushab, Muhammad Akram s/o Muhammad Yousuf, a resident of Khushab, Shabir Shah s/o Feroze Shah, a resident of Attok, Nazeer Shah s/o Feroze Shah, a resident of Rawalpindi, Muhammad Saeed s/o Noor Muammad, a resident of Mianwali, Muhammad Ismail s/o Jaj, a resident of Mohmand Agency and a car receiver namely Anwar Zeb s/o Aurangzeb, a resident of Sawabi.
SP (Investigation) further told that, the accused Najeeb Ullah and Yasin Khan were involved in lifting new vehicles. Their modus operandi was to break the glass of the window and jam it’s tracking system ane used to steal away. Likewise, the accused Muhammad Akram and Muhammad Kashif were involved in lifting Mehran, Pickup and carry van vehicles. Five accused have already been sent to the jail, he maintained.
Cases about all these recovered vehicles have been registered in Karachi Company, Sabzi Mandi, Sihala, Khana, Tarnol, Ramna, Bhara Kahu and Lohi Bher police stations. Liaqat Niazi emphasized that the IGP Islamabad had assigned special task the AVLC officers to curb the car-lifting and to recover the stolen vehicles. AVLC is taking all out efforts to curb car-lifting adding that AVLC had arrested many gangs and recovered stolen vehicles from which most of the vehicles have been handed over to their actual owners.
