Awareness workshop held on human trafficking

ISLAMABAD: Following the special directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the Islamabad Police continues to organize various training courses and workshops to enhance the capacity and professionalism of its officers.
In this context, Islamabad Police in collaboration with the Migrant Resource Center organized an awareness workshop on human trafficking at the Capital Police College Islamabad. The workshop was attended by trainee police officers and subject matter experts.
During the workshop, experts provided detailed insights into the regional and international situation regarding human trafficking, the rights of victims, and the significant role of law enforcement agencies in combating this crime.
Practical training was also provided on assisting affected individuals, their rehabilitation, and the enforcement of related laws. On the occasion, Director Special Initiatives Shams-ul-Haq Durrani stated that human trafficking is an international crime that not only violates human dignity but also poses a threat to social peace and the justice system.
He emphasized the need for increased awareness, cooperation and effective strategies to combat this menace. He extended special thanks to the Migrant Resource Center and remarked that such initiatives contribute significantly to enhancing the professional capabilities of the police force.
He added that the purpose of the workshop was to educate police personnel about the various forms of human trafficking, its causes, identification of victims, and the legal procedures involved.
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants were presented with shields, and it was expressed that Islamabad Police will continue to play its full role in the fight against human trafficking.
