ISLAMABAD: More than 300 runners and over 500 families and attendees gathered at F-9 Park on Sunday for Azadi Run 2026, organised by university students in collaboration with Sportistan to mark Pakistan’s Independence through fitness, community participation and sporting activities, while more than 100 runners joined the event virtually from across the country.
The event featured three race categories — the 14K Challenge, 5K Freedom Run and Azadi Kids Fun Run attracting runners, families, children, university students and fitness enthusiasts.
The participation created an energetic and inclusive atmosphere at F-9 Park, with families and young people joining the races and celebrating Independence through a healthy and active experience.
More than 100 participants from different parts of Pakistan also took part virtually, enabling people outside Islamabad to become part of the Independence Day activity.
The organisers said the strong participation from Islamabad and other parts of the country reflected growing interest among young people and families in running, fitness and community-based sporting events.
They said Azadi Run was aimed at bringing communities together through sports and promoting fitness, unity and the spirit of independence.
The event, held at F-9 Park on Aug 9, brought together more than 300 physical runners and over 100 virtual participants, with more than 500 families and attendees taking part in the activities, including the 14K Challenge, 5K Freedom Run and Azadi Kids Fun Run.
The organisers expressed gratitude to runners, families, volunteers, university students, partners and supporters for contributing to the successful event and making it a memorable Independence celebration.
