Lahore: The top-officials in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are not happy with Azhar Ali and his Test captaincy is in jeopardy.
According to the sources, after Misbah-ul-Haq leaving the chief selector’s post, Azhar’s captaincy has also come on PCB’s radar. PCB will review Azhar’s Test captaincy performance and any decision related to his removal can be taken in near future.

Sources further said that due to Misbah’s position getting weak gradually, problems for Azhar has been increased. Before or after the New Zealand tour, any decision related to his captaincy can be taken. Also, a member of PCB’s cricket committee is not in favor of Azhar continuing as a Test captain.
It must be noted here that Azhar along with head coach Misbah and veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez raised departmental cricket issue before Prime Minister Imran Khan in a meeting with him at his residence. PM Khan, who directed to dissolve departmental cricket, wasn’t convinced to reconsider this decision.
Later on, PCB expressed disappointment over the cricketers meeting the premier without their consent. Misbah and Azhar were also called upon to meet chairman Ehsan Mani and Chief Executive Wasim Khan in this regard.
