Bajwa rejects deceptive reports on CPEC

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Lt Gen (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa Thursday said the Chinese government and private sector had recently committed huge investment worth billions of dollars under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in Pakistan.
Referring to a news item published in a section of media, he said the news titled “CPEC hits financial Snag?” was totally baseless and unfounded.
During the last two months, he said the largest single project under CPEC, the Main Line – One railway project envisaging total reform of Pakistan Railways, and Kohala (1124MW) and Azad Patan (700MW) Hydel projects amounting $10.9 billions had already been signed and committed.
Asim Bajwa who is also chairman of CPEC Authority said the huge investment in Pakistan had clearly expressed the commitment by both Chinese and Pakistani governments and their private sectors including banks in both the countries.
Meanwhile, Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Information and Broadcasting and Chairman China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority, Asim Saleem Bajwa on Thursday has said that over 1100 jobs of various categories are available for a recently started project by Shanghai Electric at Thar Block-1.
The special assistant took to social-networking website Twitter and posted, “Locals will get preference subject to criteria/qualification.” He further wrote that to apply, visit the sites or addresses mentioned on the attached flyer.
Earlier, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Lt.Gen (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa said on Saturday that work on the 110 kilometers two lane Khuzdar-Basima N-30 highway construction was in full swing.
In a tweet Asim Bajwa said work on Rs 19 bllion worth project was commenced in October 19.
So far, he said, 20 percent physical work was completed.
This road would link Khuzdar with N-85 to also serve Gwadar China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route.
The project is expected to be completed by end 2021.
Earlier in another tweet, Asim Bajwa who is also Chairman CPEC Authority said 85 percent work on 660kV Matiari-Lahore HVDC Transmission line project had been completed.
“The transmission line will evacuate power North-South and resolve one major issue,” he said in his tweet. He said transmission line would have a capacity of evacuating 4000MW of electricity.
The line is 886 kilometers long and there were1972 towers along the line. The cost of the project is US $ 1.658 billion.
The project has also created over 2,212 direct jobs for locals, he said.
