Bangladeshi academicians call on State Minister, Foreign Secy

ISLAMABAD: The academic delegation from Bangladesh, led by Chairman University Grants Commission (UGC) Bangladesh Prof. Dr Mamun Ahmed, continued its week-long academic engagements in Pakistan with a series of high-level meetings and institutional visits in Islamabad aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation in higher education, research, and academic exchange.
 The delegation called on State Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Ms. Wajiha Qamar at the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT). During the meeting, the two sides discussed avenues for enhancing academic collaboration, promoting regional educational partnerships, and expanding opportunities for faculty and student exchanges between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
 The delegation, later, attended a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, chaired by Foreign Secretary Ms. Amna Baloch. Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr Niaz Ahmad Akthar also attended the meeting. The discussions underscored the importance of academic diplomacy and people-to-people linkages in fostering mutual understanding and strengthening bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries.
 The delegation also visited the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Islamabad, where the Rector and senior university management received the delegates. The visiting dignitaries were briefed on NUML’s academic programmes, international collaborations, language education initiatives, and research activities. During the visit, the delegation witnessed various facilities of the university.
 On this occasion, NUML and the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh signed a Letter of Intent, aiming to promote institutional cooperation, joint research initiatives, academic exchange programmes, and collaborative learning opportunities between the two universities.
 The Bangladeshi delegation appreciated the hospitality extended by Pakistani institutions and acknowledged the significant progress made by Pakistan’s higher education sector under the leadership of HEC.
