Bishkek: The construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway is vital, President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov said today during a regular interview with the state radio speaking about the talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who paid an official visit to Bishkek last week.
Jeenbekov noted that during the talks with Wang Yi, one of the important and constantly raised issues – the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway was discussed.
“This project is vital for us. When the pandemic began and the borders were closed, we found ourselves in a very difficult situation. Not only the economy came to the fore, but also the issue of providing people with food and flour. We were convinced once again that the railway is very important for us,” the President of Kyrgyzstan said. Now, Jeenbekov said, experts are working on this issue. “In general, the Chinese side is interested in this project. In addition, we have reached a high-level agreement with Russia on participation in this project. Active negotiations are underway on this project between China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan and Russia / in 3 + 1 format /. There are some a dvances in this issue,” he noted. Moreover, “The negotiations with Chinese Foreign Minister were fruitful. I am satisfied with the negotiations with Mr. Wang Yi,” Sooronbai Jeenbekov said. In an interview with the state radio on Saturday President Jeenbekov stressed that the main purpose of the recent visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Bishkek was -China confirmed its readiness to take our bilateral strategic partnership to a new level.
“He conveyed the greetings of Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, and read out his message. In his message, Mr. Xi Jinping expressed political support in the current post-pandemic situation and expressed his readiness to further develop trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
