Beijing lauds Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace

ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of China to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong on Tuesday lauded the proactive and positive role being played by Pakistan at every diplomatic forum, including at the United Nations Security Council, for a peaceful settlement of the regional security situation through dialogue and diplomacy.
The Chinese ambassador called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and discussed regional security situation, particularly recent developments in the Iran-Israel conflict, other bilateral issues.
The prime minister conveyed his warm regards and good wishes for President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang.
The prime minister extended his sincere best wishes for the successful holding of the upcoming SCO Summit. He acknowledged the ongoing consultations between the two sides concerning his visit to China to attend the Summit.
Recalling the historic, deep-rooted and iron-clad “All Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” between Pakistan and China, the prime minister said that Pakistan was fully committed to continue working closely with China for the successful implementation of ongoing China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.
In this regard, he highlighted key projects including ML-I, realignment of KKH, operationalization of Gwadar Port, as well as cooperation in agriculture, industrial and IT sectors.
The prime minister expressed Pakistan’s deep appreciation for China’s consistent financial and economic support that had helped to stabilize Pakistan’s economy and resulted in the improvement of the macro-economic outlook of the country. This, he added, was vital to the government’s socio-economic development agenda.
Amb. Jiang Zaidong briefed the prime minister on various aspects of Pakistan-China bilateral cooperation and said that preparations had already begun to ensure the success of the prime minister’s upcoming visit to China in the end of August 2025.
Earlier, Hu Zhaoming, spokesman of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC), held an interactive session with representatives of the Pakistani media here on Tuesday at the Chinese Embassy.
The session focused on evaluating shared concerns between the two countries, particularly in context of their bilateral relations, geo-economic interests and evolving security situation in the region.
In his opening remarks, Hu praised the deepening ties between China and Pakistan across various sectors, noting that widespread public support has made their bilateral relationship unique and exceptional one across the World. The governments and political parties of the two countries are fully committed to further reinforcing their all-weather cooperative partnership, he added.
Citing a Chinese proverb, Hu Zhaoming who is also Director General of the Information and Communication Bureau of the IDCPC stated that China values action over rhetoric. He said they are highly satisfied with the current status of their relationship.
These reflect the shared and common aspirations of their peoples.
He also appreciated Pakistan’s all-out support for China on regional and international issues, particularly at international forums.
Acknowledging past challenges and difficulties in some areas, Hu remarked that these have never been hindered in the repaid growth of their deep-rooted bilateral ties.
He stressed the need for a more secure and stable environment, adding that there had always been room for further improvement of bilateral relationship in all areas of common interests.
According to him, without stability and security, economic development cannot be realized.
