BEIJING: Chinese Foreign Minister (FM) Wang Yi has said that China will help Pakistan to ensure and protect its sovereignty, autonomy and security. The Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with FM Pakistan Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Beijing on Thursday.
According to details, the Chinese FM said that China will help Pakistan to safeguard its sovereignty and autonomy, saying Pakistan is China’s most important ally and closest friend.
Wang Yi added that they will not let the cold war’s mentality reemerge, the usage of Asian countries as proxies in others’ wars is unacceptable.
Developing and underdeveloped countries should not be used as fuel to fulfil someone else agendas, the Chinese FM added.
Wang Yi added that smaller countries should not be used as stooges in the ‘great power game’ of international powers.
The Chinese foreign minister had said that the Pakistan-China relationship is based on the convergence of views and mutual respect.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi had called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi on March 23, during his visit to Pakistan.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security and measures to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation were discussed.
It is pertinent to mention here that renowned journalist Nasim Zehra has claimed that a United States (US) official conveyed to Pakistan’s Ambassador in Washington Dr Asad that relations with the country cannot improve until Imran Khan remains the prime minister.
The journalist took to Twitter to share that US Under Secretary of State of the United States did call outgoing Ambassador Dr Asad to deliver a demarche for Pakistan government.
“He told [ambassador] as long as Imran Khan is PM, relations with Pakistan can’t improve and if he goes [Pakistan] can be forgiven for its mistakes.”
She termed it an outrageous official communication and said that all must condemn.
