TEHRAN: Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote in the article, which was published in Chinese, recalling that this year the 50th anniversary of Iran’s diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China will be celebrated, noted: “Exchanges between Iran and China have a long history and the two countries preserve their trade and cultural exchanges through the ancient Silk Road.”
Recalling that in January 2016, Iran-China relations were promoted to the level of strategic partnership, the Foreign Minister said: “The leaders of the two countries have repeatedly stressed that as the international situation changes, friendly relations between the two countries will not be affected.”
The head of the diplomatic service noted: “Iran-China relations have resisted the test of time, especially in the difficult period of the coronavirus pandemic, relations between the two countries have continued to maintain their continuous development. The two countries have supported each other in various fields without any restrictions and have achieved useful results.
Emphasizing Iran and China’s commitment to a politically independent foreign policy, Zarif said: “The two countries pursue economic cooperation and support each other in international affairs.” He cited the joint construction of the ‘Belt and Road’ project as China’s most important step in playing a global role and said that Iran had actively participated in the joint construction of the ‘Belt and Road’ and hoped to play a greater role in it.
Undoubtedly, the development of Iran-China relations is based on mutual respect for sovereignty and independence, respect for different social systems, and win-win cooperation. It will also be a huge source of power for mutual trust and cooperation between the two countries in the future.
