Bhimber Dam project to be completed by 2024

ISLAMABAD: The Bhimber Dam project having 2MW capacity is likely to be completed by March, 2024 with the cost of Rs. 86.089 million, said an official source on Wednesday.
Bhimber Dam Project is located on Bhimber Nullah about 10 km upstream of Bhimber-Gujrat Road Bridge in District Bhimber, Azad Kashmir.
The Government of AJ&K on 30 September 2020 accorded approval for inclusion of Bhimber Dam Project in the current Financial Year’s Annual Development Programme with allocation of Rs. 60.564 million.
WAPDA will make every effort to complete the project study within already submitted PC-II cost and requested to arrange approval of PC-II, allocation and release of funds.
The PC-II Proforma for feasibility study submitted to MoWR on 14 January, 2021 for arranging its approval from competent forum.
DDW directed WAPDA to conduct the feasibility study through consultants.
In the light of directions of DDWP meeting, PC-II proforma for feasibility study, detailed engineering design and tender documents and PC-I has been prepared and is under submission to MoWR for consideration in upcoming DDWP meeting.–Agencies

Photo exhibition on Sufism held at PAC

RAWALPINDI: Punjab Arts Council (PAC) on Wednesday organized a photo exhibition based on Islamic calligraphy and spirituality to provide a platform for young artists. Special guest of the exhibition was the President of Pakistan Green Task Force Dr. Jamal Nasir.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Jamal Nasir said that during prostration, a person is closest to Allah Almighty. During Sajdah, man is in a spiritual state, where he speaks his heart to Allah. Watching today’s exhibition gives me a sense of spirituality. He said there is a story behind every verse selected for Islamic calligraphy. The chain of spirituality in modern Islam begins with Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi. In the end, he congratulated all the young artists for presenting the best work.
Speaking on the occasion, Naheed Manzoor said that we should encourage our children towards formal education as well as informal activities.
Islamic
calligraphy is the heritage of Muslims. This art has produced many famous
artists.

Director Arts Council Waqar Ahmed said that the picture is good which makes
the viewer become a picture by surprise. The work of young artists is
excellent, and will improve over time. The purpose of the exhibition is to
provide a platform for young artists to showcase their creativity to the
world.

The exhibition featured works by Zara Khan, Amira Shah, Hamna Haider, Kashf
Asam, Dr. Samra Kanwal Khan, Aiza Ayaz, Huma, Jawariya Zeb, Umara Afshin,
Farzana Bashir, Bushra Siddique, Naira Shafi, Hajra Nadeem and Iman Shiraz.
Various aspects of Islamic calligraphy and spirituality were painted on
canvas in the exhibits. At the end of the ceremony, all the artists were
awarded with appreciation shields.
