LARKANA: Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, once again targeted his political rival Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader Nawaz Sharif, who is eyeing a fourth term as prime minister.
Addressing another election rally in Dadu, Bilawal accused Nawaz of orchestrating the arrests of politi-cal opponents from the comfort of his home and snatching their electoral symbols.
“This lion, dreaming of becoming prime minister for the fourth time, sucks the blood of the people, and from the safety of his home, instructs the arrests of opponents and snatching of their electoral symbol to secure his victory [in elections],” he added.
Once again taking a jibe at PML-N, Bilawal said that the upcoming general elections will be a showdown between the arrow and lion — the electoral symbols of PPP and PML-N. “I urge you, do not waste your votes on anyone but the arrow,” he added.
The PPP chairman outlined his vision, promising to expand welfare programmes, stating, “It is my dream that no citizen or child sleeps hungry. We will start programmes to eradicate hunger at the Un-ion Council level,” he said.
Bilawal vowed to implement his 10-point welfare agenda, stating that he would double the salaries immediately after the election victory.
Expressing determination to confront Nawaz in Punjab, Bilawal declared, “Tomorrow, I will go to Pun-jab, where I will face this lion. I will convey a message to the people of South Punjab on how to defeat this lion.”
He urged the people not to give leadership role to someone who has already failed three times as prime minister, urging the masses to give him a chance instead to serve people. “Give Bilawal a chance, and I will change the fate of the country. The lion or any other party has no plan,” he added.
Lashing out at PML-N for not revealing its manifesto days ahead of election day — February 8 —, sug-gesting it hasn’t been disclosed as PML-N was not aware of the difficulties faced by the people, such as inflation and poverty.
“They only care about their rule, as preparations are underway for a fourth term [for Nawaz], but we will thwart this conspiracy and establish people’s rule by securing the majority on February 8,” he con-cluded. –Agencies
