VILNIUS, Lithuania: Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday met his Lithuanian counterpart Gabrielius Landsbergis and held talks on expanding bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade, invest-ment and education.
The two Foreign Ministers, who exchanged views on regional and international issues, also signed an agreement regarding the establishment of a bilateral consultative mechanism on this occasion.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who was on the historic visit of Lithuania and the first Pakistani Foreign Minister to visit the Baltic state, also visited the Lithuanian Parliament and laid a wreath at the monument of martyred freedom fighters.
He, on this occasion, met the Speaker of Lithuanian Parliament Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen and highlight-ed the importance of parliamentary exchanges for the promotion of public contacts.
The Foreign Minister also had a meeting with the Lithuanian Minister for Transport and Communica-tion Marius Skuodis. The two Ministers exchanged views on expanding bilateral cooperation.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari arrived here in the capital of Lithuania on a day-long vis-it.
Upon arrival in Vilnius, the Foreign Minister was received by senior Lithuanian officials, Pakistan Am-bassador Dr. Khalid Hussain Memon and other Embassy staff.
The Foreign Minister during the visit will hold meetings with his Lithuanian counterpart and senior offi-cials.
Days earlier, the minister had met his Saudi counterpart Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud and the two pledged to increase cooperation between their countries in diverse fields.
Bilawal said Pakistan highly valued its brotherly relations with Saudi Arabia. He also held a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Finland Pekka Haavisto.
The two sides agreed to take forward relations in the sectors of education, trade and climate change.
Bilawal welcomed the decision of Finland to re-open its embassy in Islamabad.
The minister met with the Vice President and Foreign Minister of Jordan Ayman Al Safadi and they agreed to expand bilateral ties and high-level contacts between Pakistan and Jordan.
He also met with the Foreign Minister of Malta Dr Ian Borg and they expressed their determination to promote relations in areas of information technology, health, tourism and start-ups through the Joint Technical Commission.
