RAWALPINDI: At least one person on Friday lost life and seven sustained wounded following a bomb explosion near Pir Wadahi bus stand in Rawalpindi.
One person has died and seven people got injured in the blast, said Regional Police Officer (RPO) Imran Ahmer, adding that it was a time-device explosion as explosives were planted inside a rickshaw.
The wounded persons have been shifted to the hospital by the rescue officials. RPO Rawalpindi Imran Ahmer, CPO Ahsan Younus and SP Rai Mazhar visited the wounded persons to inquire about their health condition.
The deceased person is identified as Muhammad Afzal s/o Ghulam Rasool, who is a local resident, whereas, the wounded persons include Ibrahim s/o Azanullah, resident of Ziaul Haq Colony, Alauddin s/o Abdul Razzaq, resident of Quetta who works at Quetta Sharjah Hotel, Zafeer s/o Abdul Rasheed, Bilal s/o Shah Gul, a resident of Dhoke Darzian, Abdul Rehman s/o Abdul Khaliq, a resident of Ziaul Haq Colony, Qasim s/o Basheer Islampura, a resident of Pir Wadahi and Abdul Mannan s/o Abdul Razzaq, a resident of Bhakkar.
The personnel of the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and forensic experts of other law enforcement agencies have reached the incident’s site and sealed the area for carrying out an investigation into the incident.
According to the spokesperson of the Rawalpindi police department, the BDS officials and forensic experts were investigating the genre of the bomb explosion. It added that the nature of the blast is still being determined but the possibility of terrorism cannot be ruled out.–Agencies
