BEIJING: The 27th Beijing International Book Fair wrapped up on Wednesday.
With the whole session taking place online because of COVID-19 pandemic prevention, the world’s second-largest book fair attracted 1,400 publishing organizations from 97 countries and regions during the five-day online exhibitions, releases and meetings. “Some of the core indices keep on rising, including numbers of new exhibitors and of countries and regions where publishers come from,” said the organizers. The number of agreements in copyright trade reached 6,788 since the online platform launched, 13.2 percent more than in the 2019 fair. Among those, 4,395 are for Chinese titles sold to overseas markets or set to be co-published with overseas partners. More than 5 million audience members joined in 1,300 book-related events during the fair. The fair-related topics drew a total of 1 billion views, across all platforms, websites and apps. Online copyright trade and some other exhibitions will be carried on after the closing of the book fair.
