ISLAMABAD: Book Launch of “SHAVKAT MIRZIYOYEV: NEW UZBEKISTAN STRATEGY” was jointly organized by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of Islamic Republic of Pakistan & Embassy of Republic of Uzbekistan to Islamic Republic of Pakistan in collaboration with Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS), Islamabad at Pakistan China Friendship Center, Islamabad.
His Excellency Furqat A. Sidiqov, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan stated that this Book launch is symbolic and very timely as President of Uzbekistan, His Excellency Shavkat Mirziyoyev is visiting Pakistan. He has made massive democratic and social reforms which are similar to what Pakistan is doing right now. The first initiative by Uzbekistan was that we have an open foreign policy and friendly policy. We have solved all problems with Central Asia and have no problems and issues now. We have open up all the borders. Tourism in Central Asian countries have increased. In this book next stage of reforms in Uzbekistan are mentioned. Second part is about regional connectivity which is very significant.
Prof. Bakhrom Abdukhalimov – Vise-President of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor explained the different parts of the books. He stated that Uzbekistan is planning to develop its economy using innovation and technology. First thing mentioned in this book is climate which is very important for Central Asia as climate is rapidly changing and Uzbekistan must give priority to this issue including water shortage. This book also highlights the significance of participation of Uzbekistan in International relations. Uzbekistan is an open country and trying to play an important role in Central Asia.
Prof. Dr. Saleem Mazhar, Pro Vice Chancellor, University of the Punjab, Lahore stated that this book is the compilation of articles about the President of Uzbekistan, His Excellency Shavkat Mirziyoyev. This book includes the speeches/addresses by the President at different forums. The important point mentioned in this book is that countries evolve their policies with the passage of time for betterment.
This book addresses the strategies for New Uzbekistan that will be adopted by the President.
Syed Mubashir Tauqir, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of Pakistan stated that Pakistan and Uzbekistan enjoy cordial relationship. Based on common heritage and religion we look forward to further strengthen our relations through joint collaboration in various sectors including art, film and documentaries.
The book launch was attended by approximately 100 participants from Pakistan and Uzbekistan and was moderated by Dr. Fauzia Hadi Ali, Director, Regional Integration Center (RIC), University of the Punjab, Lahore. –PR
