ISLAMABAD: Bosnia and Herzegovina has expressed keen interest in translating its existing understanding with Pakistan into practical cooperation in science, technology and innovation, with a particular focus on metrology, technical collaboration and exchange of expertise.
The interest was expressed during a meeting between the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Pakistan, Emin Cohodarevic and Federal Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), Shahid Iqbal Baloch, at the Ministry on Tuesday.
The two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and explored avenues for expanding institutional linkages and launching mutually beneficial initiatives in areas of shared interest.
The Federal Secretary welcomed the Ambassador and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding science and technology partnerships with friendly countries.
He highlighted the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed earlier this year between the Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the National Metrology Institute of Pakistan (NMIP), describing it as an important step towards strengthening institutional and technical cooperation between the two countries.
The Ambassador shared the Bosnian side’s roadmap for advancing cooperation under the MoU. The discussions covered metrology, capacity building, exchange of experts and technical collaboration, besides exploring opportunities to turn the existing understanding into concrete cooperation activities.
Shahid Iqbal Baloch assured the Ambassador of the Ministry’s full support for effective implementation of the MoU and achieving tangible outcomes.
He said the Ministry would review the proposed roadmap and coordinate with NMIP to identify the way forward for implementing the agreed areas of cooperation.
The Ambassador thanked the Federal Secretary for the warm reception and reiterated Bosnia and Herzegovina’s interest in further deepening cooperation with Pakistan in science, technology and innovation.
Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination and communication to ensure timely progress on the agreed cooperation activities.
