LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar says Lahore TechnoPolis project has been started under the vision of ‘Excellence in Knowledge and Enterprise’ to increase education and business opportunities for youth.
He was talking to Punjab Minister for Higher Education Raja Yasir Humayun who called on him in Lahore on Sunday. The Chief Minister said besides business training, funds will also be provided to youth for starting businesses.
He said international universities will set up their campuses in Lahore TechnoPolis and the Techno-Polis will get all benefits under Special Technology Zone Act including tax exemption for 10 years.
On the occasion, the Provincial Higher Education Minister briefed Chief Minister about steps taken for improvement in higher education sector. Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Monday claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) would clean sweep upcoming local government elections in the province. Talking to media, the Punjab chief minister said that under the new local government system, powers would be devolved to the grass-root level.
“PTI will make substantial gains in local bodies elections in Punjab, said Buzdar and added that for the first time local representatives at the district level and mayors of the cities would be elected through a direct vote.
Speaking about Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local government elections results, the chief minister said: ” It is too early to comment on party’s position in LG polls as complete results have not been announced yet.”
When asked about his recently held meeting with an ally PML-Q, Usman Buzdar said: “Pakistan Muslim League-Q is an ally party and our alliance is stronger than before.”
Replying to a question, Buzdar said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government was taking strict measures to control rising inflation in the country.
“PTI government under the leadership of PM Imran announced relief package and health insurance scheme for masses,” he said and added the record development work was carried out in Punjab during PTI govt’s last three years.
