ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Law and Justice, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar here on Friday chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Disposal of Legislative Business, which reviewed legal and regulatory amendments and rules submitted by various ministries and divisions.
The committee approved the draft OGRA Fees and Charges Rules, aimed at aligning the fee and charges framework for regulatory and licensing services administered by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) with current requirements.
The committee also accorded conditional approval to proposed amendments to the Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Electric Power Act, 1997, subject to incorporation of its recommendations and suggestions in the draft.
An amendment to the Pakistan Coast Guards Act, 1973, was also approved to provide a formal legal framework for rules and regulations governing the Regimental Fund, including its administration and operation. The committee further approved a proposed amendment to the Drugs (Research) Rules, 1978, providing the necessary legal scope for establishing, improving and upgrading research and laboratory facilities through the Central Research Fund.
Consideration of proposed amendments to the FIA Act, 1974, and the Immigration Rules, 1979, was deferred, while the agenda relating to the Draft PEMRA Rules, 2025, was withdrawn from the committee. Senior officials from the relevant ministries, divisions and government departments attended the meeting.
