ISLAMABAD: The Online Women Police Station has been formally launched to safeguard women, children, and vulnerable groups, while empowering women through the integration of modern technology and digital policing tools.
Following the vision and personal interest of the Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and the special directives of Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, the Islamabad Police has launched the “Online Women Police Station” to prioritize and resolve women’s issues.
This fully operational online station is working effectively to ensure the protection of women, children, and the underprivileged from violence and abuse. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi stated that a dedicated helpline 1815 has been established for women at the Online Women Police Station, where they can freely call to resolve their issues promptly.
The station also provides access to legal guidance, complaint registration and consultation services. The station offers video calling and online chat features, eliminating the need for women to visit police stations physically and FIRs are delivered to their doorstep instead.
He further said that issues are resolved at the location provided by the complainant. A first responder unit reaches the given location within 5 to 7 minutes to handle the issue immediately. For more complex matters, female investigating officers take swift legal action to resolve the case.
IGP Islamabad added that all call takers, call responders, and investigators on Helpline 1815 are trained female police officers. With the help of artificial intelligence, women’s distress calls made to emergency helpline Pucar-15 are automatically rerouted to helpline 1815.
This helpline is operational 24/7, ensuring that help is always just a phone call away for those in distress. He emphasized that the purpose of establishing the Online Virtual Women Police Station is to assist victims of gender-based crimes and others in need to the fullest extent.
The Online Women Police Station is fully integrated with the Police Station on Wheels, and when needed, the mobile police unit is dispatched to the scene alongside the first responders.
