ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have chalked out a comprehensive security plan to deal with those involved in hooliganism, aerial firing, fireworks and one-wheeling on New Year night.
Foolproof security plan was made on directions of IGP Muhammad Ahsan Younas adding that more than 1000 well-equipped cops and officers would be deployed in the district on the night of New Year to maintain law and order situation.
Special police squads would be deployed on main roads of the city while special police teams will patrol in main markets and rush areas.
According to him, people involved in hooliganism, aerial firing, fireworks and one-wheeling on the new year night would be dealt with iron hands.
Islamabad Police chief Muhammad Ahsan Younas directed all officers to keep their eyes on anti-social activities on new year night.
He said a comprehensive traffic plan has also been finalized according to which 300 officers would be deployed in the city to control traffic rush.
In a statement, IGP Islamabad has directed all the police officers and cops to impart duty with commitment and dedication. He also advised the citizens to cooperate with cops for their own safety.
Meanwhile, following the directions of IGP Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younis, Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has formulated a traffic plan for New Year night. A decision has been taken to take stern action against one wheelers, motorcyclists with heavy silencers, involved in rash driving, racing and obstructing the flow of traffic. In this regard 367 officers and Jawans including, 4 DSPs and 18 inspectors of Islamabad Traffic Police will be on special duty to ensure the smooth flow of Traffic on new year eve.
SSP Traffic Rai Mazhar Iqbal said that to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and provision of an integrated traffic system to the citizens a task has been given to Islamabad Traffic Police special enforcement squads to patrol the main highways, streets and squares of Islamabad in addition to set Special roadblocks to take stern action against one wheelers, motorcyclists with heavy silencers, involved in racing and rash driving, obstructing the flow of traffic.
SSP Traffic Rai Mazhar Iqbal has appealed to the citizens not to allow their children to use one wheeled motorbikes so as to ensure protection of life and property of the citizens on the occasion of New Year Night.
SSP Traffic has also appealed to all road users to cooperate with Islamabad Traffic Police to ensure lane discipline on the road so that accidents can be reduced as much as possible.
