ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has launched an extensive tree plantation and landscaping campaign across Islamabad to improve the city’s environment and enhance its natural beauty.
Environment Department is carrying out plantation at major highways, interchanges, green belts, parks, public places and other prominent locations.
As part of the campaign, Tabebuia trees, known for their attractive pink flowers were planted at Serena Interchange on Saturday. Once fully bloomed, the trees are expected to add to the beauty of the important gateway to the capital.
The CDA said the campaign is aimed at increasing green cover, improving the urban environment, reducing air pollution, providing shade and creating healthier public spaces for citizens and visitors.
The authority said plantation activities are being carried out under a comprehensive plan that includes selection of suitable sites, landscape designing, plantation of different tree species and long-term maintenance and protection of plants.
It said green corridors would also be developed along major roads and interchanges to further enhance Islamabad’s scenic beauty.
The CDA appealed to citizens to cooperate with the plantation campaign, protect trees and green spaces and play their role in preserving the capital’s natural environment.
CDA officials said the initiative reflects its commitment to making Islamabad cleaner, greener, more beautiful and environmentally sustainable.
